This will be an opportunity for players and parents to meet the girls and boys coaches and gather with their team; we will also hear from our new Athletic Director Jim Moore and introduce the Soccer Club Board. See the soccer club website to sign up. This is an easy way to help the soccer program. We need all families to volunteer for a few hours this season. Other opportunities will be discussed at the potluck. If you have questions, email Soccer Club VP Terri Harding at terriharding72@gmail.com.
We look forward to seeing you all there.

2023-24 Boys SEHS Soccer info from Coach Pete D. Peterson
Welcome to South Eugene Soccer! One of the most competitive high school programs in the state (28 conference championships & 2 state titles over a rich 45 year history).
Players/families will receive program information and communication from Pete by group email. To be placed on the boys soccer email list, send an email to Pete at petepetersonsoccer@gmail.com
Please see all info, events and calendar below:
1. AXE SOCCER CAMP- Our annual summer soccer camp is happening June 19th - 23rd; 9am-2pm! This camp is the sole fundraiser for all boys and girls soccer teams at South Eugene HS.
Every returning SEHS player will work in this camp as a camp coach/counselor. All current/returning SEHS players please make sure you’ve filled out your availability at the camp counselor link here: Axe Soccer Camp counselor signups. Our camp directors Ty Ohrtman and Jaime Aguayo will be in touch with you with follow up instructions
2. SUMMER BOYS SOCCER TRAINING
Summer Training will be held twice/week, starting in July Tues & Thur 8-10am on the turf soccer field. These are for all returning players and interested new players.

Information about additional training opportunities will be sent out by email to those who are on the group email list.
Summer trainings are geared toward a) building program chemistry, b) increasing player technical skill and fitness, c) communicating program standards and d) familiarizing new players with coach staff.
The varsity head coach typically leads these trainings. At times, assistant coaches will assist as they are available.
Summer trainings are non-mandatory but important!
There is no strict dress code for boys' summer training.
Arrive on time (15 minutes early). Bring running shoes, soccer cleats, shin guards, and water to all training sessions.
South Eugene HS has many club soccer players involved in multiple programs during the summer and many families travel in the summer. At times, this means there may be a mix of player ability and experience showing up at summer training.
All players must be registered before participating in summer training and tryouts.

3. TRYOUT WEEK
August 14th - 18th, for three boys SEHS teams (Varsity, JV, and JV2).

*Note: Seniors are not allowed to play on JV. Juniors are not allowed to play on JV2.
*All families should avoid conflicts with our Aug 14-18 tryout week.
WHO: All players who want to play for South Eugene Soccer fall 2023 season. Players cannot miss tryouts. Families with immoveable conflicts need to reach out to me as soon as possible.
WHAT: Structure of tryouts will be alternating doubles & singles that week. A "double" is two trainings on one day (typically in the morning and then another later in the day). Recommended conditioning benchmarks will be sent out by coach’s email.
WHEN: Aug 14-18, times TBA Team rosters will be determined by Friday Aug 18th - possibly sooner.
WHERE: South Eugene High School turf field
*The weekend after tryouts some type of team bonding activity happens. Specifics re: team bonding events are TBA.
The high school season starts before school starts. Missing training sessions after that point(rostering) is not ideal.
*Varsity and Junior Varsity schedules includes four league matches to southern Oregon. These require bus travel with early release (Noonish) on school days and return times near midnight. JV2 away matches can involve some early release from school but do not involve lengthy travel.
